The Great Debates!

September 10, 2024

There are three categories of winners for this week's game: Random drawing, funniest answer, and favorite answer.

The total prize amount for the week is $1,000.

The cumulative number of submitters from the three winners' groups was 23, so each person takes home $43.48.

Random Drawing

The winner of the random drawing is Alex M. of Engrain!

Alex was one of sixteen members of the Engrain group to submit a quiz this week.

All 16 players win a prize!

Funniest Wrong Answer

The funniest wrong answer belonged to Gillian G. of Taylor Insurance Services.

The question was "The APA style, “The Chicago Manual of Style,” “Garner's Modern American Usage,” Strunk and White's “The Elements of Style,” and the “U.S. Government Printing Office Style Manual” all use it. The “Associated Press Stylebook,” “The New York Times Style Book” and the “Canadian Press stylebook all advise against its use. You should give a...hoot about whether what specifically scholastic type of punctuation is used when you’re making lists?"

And Gillian's answer was "Cambridge comma."

Ah yes, the old Oxford vs. Cambridge fight. For those over in the U.K., you're probably tired of listening to people talk about Oxbridge, but we're pretty new to it on this side of the pond. And while there are some fun debates as to which university is better, unfortunately only one has a comma named after it!

Gillian was one of two members of the Taylor Insurance Services group to submit a quiz this week.

All 2 players win a prize!

Favorite Answer

Our team's favorite answer came from Bryan M. of Garvin-Allen Solutions.

The question was "Do you eat each flavor separately or mix them together? Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are typically the three flavors next to each other in what 10-letter style of ice cream whose name is derived from Italy’s third largest city?"

And Bryan's answer was "Neapolitan (just eat the chocolate and then buy a new tub)"

Bryan...my man! I love a guy who can take a national probably even global debate and piss off everyone! I would love to see the look on all our players' faces when they imagine 2/3 of an ice cream tub being tossed into the garbage.

Bryan was one of five members of the Garvin-Allen Solutions group to submit a quiz this week.

All 5 players win a prize!
